Samantha and Lee have been living in Asheville for a little while now, so it was only natural to have their elopement take place nearby. We went up to one of their favorite spots, not far from Asheville, in the Pisgah National Forest. Black Balsam Knob also happens to be one of our favorite places in that area as well. Luckily for us though, Samantha + Lee are avid runners and spend a lot of time running trails all throughout the mountains, so they took us to a spot we hadn’t been to out there and it was incredible. When we left Asheville to head out for their Black Balsam Knob elopement, it was still rather sunny and bright, but as we drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway, the temperature began to drop and beautiful fog began to roll in. Although the fog didn’t allow for us to see the beautiful views from the ridge we hiked to, it still made for this amazing, romantic and moody vibe, which we all just loved.
It was truly a highlight of our year. Just Samantha + Lee and us. It was incredible. It was so intimate and so silent and so still. No distractions making a perfect environment for them to share and express their love. As we hiked back out, we could hear the red fox’s howling off in the distance. It was almost as if they were cheering and congratulating them on their marriage.
