There’s something magical about winter in New York City — the way the snowflakes fall softly between historic buildings, the cozy atmosphere on quiet streets, and the energy that’s always alive, no matter the season. When I had the chance to photograph Diana and Mark in NYC for a long-overdue engagement session — after already capturing their unforgettable wedding — I knew this shoot would be something special.
Sometimes the timeline before a wedding can be tight, and engagement sessions don’t always happen, especially the ones during that one dreaded year. But while I was in NYC for some other shoots, I was able to connect with Diana + Mark and we able to make this post-wedding “just because” session happen before I left. We lucked out. If I can recall correctly, the forecast was calling for rain, but it was cold enough that we ended up with a little bit of snow.
We started near their place in the Lower East Side, with its iconic brick buildings and hidden alleyways that felt like stepping into a timeless New York moment. The East Village brought a mix of urban charm and quiet, tree-lined streets, perfect for cozy, candid shots. Finally, we ended in SoHo, with its cobblestone streets and stylish storefronts adding that quintessential NYC backdrop.
Even with cloudy skies and a soft dusting of flurries, the city felt romantic and intimate. The weather gave us that perfect winter-in-the-city vibe — moody yet warm with love.
Photographing Diana + Mark again reminded me how special it is to continue capturing love stories, even after the wedding day. These sessions become so much more than just photos — they’re snapshots of life lived together.
To Diana + Mark: Thank you for braving the winter chill and embracing every moment in the city that never sleeps. You two are magic together, and it was an honor to capture another chapter of your story. A a truly beautiful winter couples session in NYC.
