NEW YORK CITY IN THE WINTER, ESPECIALLY AROUND CHRISTMASTIME, IS ONE IN THE SAME WITH ROMANCE AND CHARM. THE FLASHY LIGHTS, THE BIG STORE DISPLAYS, ETC. BUT REALLY FOR US THE CHARM OF NYC IS ITS GRIT. THESE CHRISTMASY NEW YORK CITY COUPLES SESSION PHOTOS ARE GLIMPSE INTO HOW WE SEE THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY DURING IT’S MOST MAGICAL TIME – WITH A LITTLE MOOD, GRIT, AND ADVENTURE.
Taylor and Michael are two incredible people with even more incredible love.
We spent the afternoon walking through some of our favorite areas of the city. Don’t tell anyone, but the Lower East Side is our favorite place to spend our time. It’s a hotbed for restaurants, like Freemans (pictured below in the super photogenic alley), Wildair and Russ & Daughters Cafe as well as coffee, art and even fashion these days. Some of our favorite places to stay are also located here i.e. Ludlow Hotel (our top stay in LES). Although, this trip to NYC, I (Brett) stayed at Arlo NoMad as it was closer to a few brand shoots I had while up there. That’s where we took the rooftop photos with the igloos. We also hit up some some of our favorite Soho and East Village spots for photos. Block Drugs in the East Village has such a gritty, old school New York City vibe and then over in SoHo, we shot by one of my favorite “storefronts”, Overthrow.
Winter in New York is incredible. Once you step aside from all the glitz and glamour of 5th Avenue or Rockefeller, there is some real, genuine charm to the city during such a magical time of year. Don’t get us wrong, it’s incredible to walk by Saks and Rockefeller to see all the Christmas displays and you’ll definitely get in the holiday spirit visiting them, but there is just something that really grips us in the more unassuming areas of town, so that’s what we set out to capture during our time with Taylor + Michael.
