Craggy Gardens Elopement

Canyon by Glded

These two crazy in love, adventure loving humans made their elopement day exactly how they wanted it and if the photos are any indication, they made the right call. One of the best pieces of advice we can give our couples is to make sure their day is what they want it to be. Not what someone else wants it to be. That’s exactly what Shannon + Alex did with their Craggy Gardens elopement. Starting their day out with little picnic they set up over on the picnic side at Craggy Gardens. Afterwards, we hiked up on the pinnacle side and met the officiant. It was incredible. It was just Shannon, Alex, the officiant and myself up on there on a beautiful little opening that overlooked the mountains. And as they began exchanging their vows, the most beautiful light began to wrap itself around the the mountains and the words Shannon + Alex were sharing with each other.

Hope these make you feel all the feels.

hi have a question, did you have to apply for a permit or just went and elope without a permit?

Hello again! Thanks For that information. Did yall have to get a permit for your ceremony? We are Only having a group of 6 and that includes the ministEr. Did not know how thEy regulated that. Says it can take up to 30 days for a permit to be approved and we are onlY 4 days away

What time Of day did yall do this? Our current wedding got canceled due to Covid and we love this inspiration. We live in wilmington NC and it wouldnt be a bad commute. Love the lighting in this!

Thanks! This was an early spring elopement, so the time when the light was good then, wouldn’t apply to a summer shoot up there. The first portion of the shoot was probably 3.5 hours before sunset and the remainder of it was closer to sunset and just a little after. This time of year, I’d aim for 6:30 and shoot until 8:30 or a little after 🙂

How long did it take to hike up to the top?

It’s an easy hike that takes about 15 min. It can be very very crowded this time of year, especially on weekends, just a heads up 🙂
