There is something truly special and inspiring about the desert. It’s somewhere we could definitely get used to shooting a lot more often. We’ve always been inspired by the desert, but never really spent much time in any desert until recently, when I (Brett) went out to California to shoot an engagement session for one of our couples this coming year. I spent a solid 4 out of 5 days in the desert, driving 2-3 hours each way every time I went out there. What’s wild is that each time I ventured out there, I was inspired by something new.
This particular time, I hit the road with Sam + Josh to venture out past Palm Springs and Joshua Tree to a pretty desolate place near Coachella Valley. We drove through a dried-up river bed and some incredible little pockets of beauty all around us. It almost felt like we were in a Star Wars movie or something. Something about this trip just fueled the creative mindset we often long for. Sometimes it’s just new places that trigger that or sometimes it’s a certain type of place or the combination.
Here is a collection of images from that afternoon with these two truly creative and talented photographer and videographer friends, venturing around Box Canyon, Salton Sea, Bombay Beach and some random unnamed area near Coachella.
