A Look Back On 2013

Goodness gracious, we could spend all of THIS year putting together this recap of LAST year. It was so hard to try and narrow it all down! From photographing weddings and engagements, authors and musicians to family and friends, we had a full year.  What a great feeling it gives us to look back over our year at all the beautiful moments we were blessed with to capture and be a part of. One of our favorite highlights is all the amazing people we’ve met and worked with throughout the year. Thank you for being you and fueling our love for what we do. With each and every passing year, the magnitude of our thankfulness and passion swells.

We’ve learned so much over our three years in business and know there is much more we have to learn. There were obstacles we had to face in our business, our home life, etc. but we never want to stop learning. And though challenging as it may be sometimes, it ultimately means growth and while we’re not really ones to make new years resolutions, we certainly don’t pass up the opportunity to re-evaluate and re-focus when we’re blessed with the opportunity of a new year.

Some 2013 highlights: Earlier in the year we got to teach our first workshop EVER (and freaking loved it)!! We love doing workshops and are excited to plan more. We’re actually teaching another class in March!

Also, earlier in the year, we got to attend our first workshop! We spent a week in NYC attending a Musea Gathering. An incredible learning experience with incredible photographers who we’ve always looked up to. Samm BlakeSpencer LumJohn Dolan and Holger Thoss spent 3 days pouring their wealth of knowledge on us. To say we enjoyed our trip and came out of that week left feeling incredibly motivated and inspired is an understatement.

A few other highlights from this year include our first time being published in the book, Just Married by Fiona Leahy (instagram photo), having two weddings published in The Knot (photo 1, photo 2), had features on Style Me Pretty, 100 Layer Cake, Ruffled and more.

Although last year brought such happy things, it didn’t escape from us without it’s challenges, difficulties and hard times, extremely hard times. To be completely honest, we find this past year hard to talk about. Back in November, our sweet little nephew, Brahm, went to be with Jesus. It was so sudden, something so completely unimaginable and utterly heartbreaking.  The 2 1/2 months he was here with us was the most precious time. He was this joy that you cannot put into words. We will forever cherish the moments we had to hold, snuggle and kiss him and know that he will forever be with us in our hearts. Truth be told, having to enter into this new year without him is a heart wrenching thought and one we would’ve never ever imagined we’d have to face. But God is our strength and our everlasting refuge. He gives us hope along with all the love and support we’ve received through our community. We are truly thankful

We love you Brahm-Brahm and can’t wait for the day when we can be with you again, little buddy.

Although it’s been tough, this new year holds its own promises and opportunities that we look forward to and coming out of this will cherish all the more. So, there you have it! Our look back at 2013. We are so thankful for all the beautiful memories and look forward to all the wonderful moments yet to be had in 2014.
